Itinerary 24: West Yorkshire

The second itinerary for the Leeds area features the renowned trio of Alwoodley, Moor Allerton and Moortown. Alwoodley is recognised as one of Britain’s finest inland courses. It was designed by Alister MacKenzie, the famous golf course architect. He left a legacy of classic golf courses, and Alwoodley was the first of them. Moor Allerton Golf Club is a classic 27-hole Robert Trent Jones Sr designed golf course, which blends beautifully with the surrounding West Yorkshire landscape. Moortown Golf Club is well known around the world as the host of the first Ryder Cup match on British soil, in 1929. Moortown is now regarded by many as one of the Country’s finest inland golf courses. The hotel for the itinerary is again the superb Weetwood Hall Hotel, which is ideally located on the northern periphery of Leeds, close to the three Golf Clubs.
