Itinerary 18: Kent

The awareness of the courses along the Kent coast has increased tremendously in recent years. We have suggested below what has proved to be the most popular itinerary in recent times, which is playing North Foreland, Prince’s and Walmer & Kingsdown Golf Clubs. Royal St George’s and Royal Cinque Ports are of course in the vicinity as well and can be quoted for if required. Founded in 1903, the North Foreland Golf Club is set on the cliff tops overlooking sandy bays and the English Channel. The Herbert Fowler masterpiece stands proudly alongside his other English classics such as Walton Heath and the Berkshire to name but a few. Prince’s Golf Club is steeped in history and is one of the best links courses in the south of England. Perched on top of the world-famous White Cliffs of Dover, with sea views from every hole, Walmer & Kingsdown delivers stunning views across the English Channel to the coast of France. Walmer & Kingsdown is not only the closest course to Europe, separated by the world’s busiest stretch of water, but one of only a few in the world where golfers can see another country while enjoying a game. For the accommodation, we use the Pegwell Bay Hotel, which has a cliff-top location in Ramsgate, with stunning panoramic views over the English Channel.
